I was recently asked by a Republican Women’s Club in Texas for an update on ‘what’s going on’. I thought my listeners/viewers might want to know, too, so I’ve reproduced it below…

As America approaches the 250th birthday of our Declaration of Independence, we are in the midst of a profoundly consequential “Time for Choosing” era (borrowing the term used by President Reagan in October 1964), a time requiring discernment and bravery. Our American Republic was founded on the idea that men and women are capable of self-governance, and that we each have God-given rights which government is obligated to protect, and especially that each individual has the right to live in freedom, under the structure and strictures of our constitution and laws.
It is the calling of our times to discern what poses threats to America’s freedom and future and find the bravery to fight to protect our Republic and constitutional freedoms, in the face of mockery and calls to surrender so we can avoid conflict. Robustly standing up for our founding American freedoms IS choosing to preserve and protect America’s future, so we can enjoy 250 more years of American greatness.
At the federal level, as I write this, there is an ongoing battle over the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility). SAVE, which passed the US House again on February 11th but awaits Senate approval, requires (1) photo ID to vote, (2) proof of citizenship to register, and (3) removal of ineligible names from the voter rolls – the most basic of safeguards imaginable.
The proof that the 2020 election was stolen is now exposed and overwhelming, and the tactics and devices used to steal elections are now known, yet Democrats persist in spewing inane objections to SAVE, such as claiming that some women and minorities are so ignorant that they cannot figure out how to access photo ID, or how to register to vote. Dems lie to make election integrity a “racist” or “sexist” issue.
The SAVE Act is a “make-or-break America” battle, not a mere “intricacies of election policy” dispute. Elections can be and have been manipulated and stolen electronically for two decades, voter rolls are filled with ineligible (deceased, illegal, duplicative) “voters,” and mail-in ballot scams abound. These are deadly assaults on self-governance and allow our elections to be stolen by unseen nefarious forces and tactics that did not exist at the time many of our election laws were formulated.
The SAVE Act will update our laws to deal with the on-the-ground realities in this era. One of those realties is that the Biden-Harris Regime nefariously and intentionally opened the southern border, invited in 20+ million illegal aliens who gladly accepted that invite, and that forces seeking to undermine America as founded, homegrown or imported, socialists/Marxists, Islamists, and globalists, are here, ready to facilitate the fundamental transformation of America that voters overwhelmingly rejected when President Trump was elected in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
President Trump announced on February 13th that if the Senate fails to pass the SAVE Act, he may issue an executive order mandating voter ID and proof of citizenship to register, in federal elections. I commend that step wholeheartedly and urge you to do the same. This executive action should not be necessary but may be the only path to secure future elections. We literally cannot have America without taking these steps.
Another make-0r-break issue in Texas is the ongoing Islamization of our state.
There is not room in this column to lay out the tyranny and barbarity of Islamic law, sharia, and the long history of Islamic conquest, or the jihadist ideology driving that history, but for 1,400+ years Islamic jihadists violently or manipulatively forced Islam and sharia on millions of people, inflicting tyranny and causing misery. Now this same conquering ideology is on the move in America, threatening our freedom.
Sharia and America cannot coexist. It is American constitutional freedom OR sharia. We must choose America. This is not a racial issue or a freedom of religion issue. Islam is not a race, and sharia is not a religion. Sharia is a conquering ideology, a system of laws that are meant to override and replace our American constitution, laws, and culture of freedom. Freedom of religion in America does not include or protect freedom to break our laws or overthrow our constitution.
Several members of the Texas Congressional delegation, U.S. Reps. Chip Roy, Keith Self, and Brandon Gill, created the “Sharia-Free America Caucus” and are proposing numerous pieces of legislation to stop the Islamization of America. Read about it at their Congressional websites – they are doing an extraordinary job. We are reaching a breaking point in America. Step back briefly from the immediacy of events and consider what Dems openly advocate for in this country. Democrats are openly insisting on perpetuating fraudulent elections, openly defending genuine insurrection in Minnesota and elsewhere to avoid the lawful deportation of millions of illegal aliens who were invited in by the Biden/Harris regime, and openly celebrating and enabling the Islamization of America.
You cannot square the Democrat agenda with the idea of loving America.
While this all sounds ominous, and it is, it is also true that we are winning. Republican values are winning in the hearts and minds of the American electorate. Because they are American values. Despite mountains of false accusations, unfounded lawfare, endless mockery of President Trump and all Republicans, the American people overwhelmingly voted for President Trump in 2024, and despite media hysteria, they support his policies and the direction he is taking this country.
Our job as Republicans is to not get pummeled into silence by the loudness of the left, to insist on election integrity, to support President Trump if he is forced to resort to an executive order to secure honest elections, to work hard to hold on to the GOP majority in the midterm elections, to resist the Islamization of Texas, and to expose whenever possible how anti-American the agenda of today’s Democrat Party really is.
One last thought. We are not attacking anyone on a personal level. These battles are not personal – they are about ideology. It is noble to stand for America. For American law not sharia law. For honest elections. For law and order. For sovereignty and borders and citizenship. In the most authentic way, we are standing for the preservation of America.
SO what can we do? We can make the 250th American birthday mean something. We can pray for this country and our leaders, for their strength and discernment and bravery to stand up for the freedom that defines America. We can speak strongly in favor of election integrity, and for the American constitution that cannot be compromised by or replaced with sharia. Defending America against her ideological enemies can be done with fierce and unrelenting mama-bear love. That is the calling of our times, the choosing we must do in our words and actions.
