America’s 250th Birthday: A New Birth of Freedom

America’s 250th Birthday: A New Birth of Freedom

All in one week:  an unprecedented and palpably enthusiastic midterm political convention led by President Trump; the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk; the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

All underscore the massively consequential times we are living in.

All drive an essential takeaway:  Americans love their heritage, and desperately need a rebirth of the freedom the nation was born with.

The good news is:  this rebirth is within reach.  The events of the past week point out the why and the way.

The Midterm Convention.  Trump’s call for the midterm convention was/is part of an obvious effort to overcome the historical pattern of midterm election gains for the party out of power.  By itself, calling for the convention is just evidence of a Trumpian instinct to fight using non-traditional tactics.  But the convention speakers and their themes, and the crowd’s reaction, captured something bigger.

The speakers almost universally acknowledged the stakes:  never in US history have the enemies of American freedom—socialism, Marxism, communism, and Islam—been so transparent as to who they are and what they believe…as candidates of the Democrat Party.

These candidates, and the Democrat Party itself, affirm TDS as the primary motive for everything they do, offer nothing by way of constructive policy for the good of all Americans, and stand for little more than the godless politics of envy, to be enforced by the raw power of totalitarian government.

The loudest ‘tell’ of the convention’s spirit?  J.D. Vance’s spontaneous, unscripted reaction to a protestor’s waving of a Mexican flag was exactly what millions of MAGA Americans wanted to hear from an elected leader:  “Well, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your ass over there!”

Not gentle.  Not apologetic.  Not politically correct.   Spoken in the language of a Main Street American.  And precisely reflecting the pent-up anger and frustration patriotic Americans feel about the threat to rule of law-based freedom represented by the estimated 25 million illegal immigrants who entered the country during the Biden coup, and then proceeded to trash it, literally and figuratively.  The convention crowd erupted in support of Vance reacting like an authentic American patriot who has had enough.

The net result of all the convention speakers’ ‘framing’:  these are not ‘ordinary’ midterms; they are existential to the preservation of freedom in America.  Which made the midterm convention far more impactful than the Uniparty political class and the Fake News would like to admit:  a fight for freedom is on the ballot in November, and Americans know it.  (In view of this reality dawning across America, Deep State/Fake News-engineered polls suggesting majority support for Democrats are suspect.)

The One-Year Anniversary of the Assassination of Charlie Kirk.  There remains a very deep and dark hurt in the American psyche from the murder of Charlie Kirk.  He was 32 years old.  He held no elected or appointed office.  He was assassinated in cold blood at an American university.

Kirk’s influence, particularly with the younger Americans with whom he so obviously connected, was unequalled by anyone in elected office, including President Trump.  Many, many sage observers of the American political scene saw him as a virtual shoo-in for an eventual run at the US Presidency, and probably a shoo-in winner of that office.

What makes the hurt from his murder so deep and so dark is the fact that his influence and stature derived from his powerful and unapologetic Christian faith, and his spectacular, gifted ability to articulate that faith and how it relates to political issues and, more importantly, to love for America as founded.

For him to be silenced—and removed as a possible future American President—through targeted assassination evidences the spiritual darkness, perversion and moral bankruptcy pervading America in 2026.  (A statue of Kirk, unveiled at the TPUSA headquarters in Arizona on the anniversary of his assassination, was vandalized by leftists within 72 hours.)

All of this suggests that Christianity itself is on the ropes in America…and if Christianity is on the ropes, America is on the ropes.

A sobering thought for American patriots.

The 25th Anniversary of 9/11.  Perhaps nothing was more unsettling about 9/11 observances than former President George W. Bush speaking on September 9 at his presidential library and proudly recalling in 2026 how he had made clear in the immediate aftermath of 9/11/2001 that Islam was not to be feared because it is a ‘religion of peace’.

Nothing could be more insulting to the memory of 9/11 victims.  Nothing could be more demonstrably false and unforgivably ignorant than to assert 25 years later that the violence, depravity and barbarity that flows from sharia and which the entire western world has witnessed for the past 25 years (not to mention the past 14 centuries) marks Islam as a religion of peace.

By its own terms, Islam’s idea of peace is global human submission to sharia.

By its own terms, global submission to sharia requires elimination of America’s Constitution.

By its own terms, global submission to sharia requires elimination of Christianity, Judaism and any and every other religion or faith tradition.

These aren’t stretches of interpretation of sharia; they are the words and promises of sharia, as preached by Islamic imams in 2026.

Global submission to Islam/sharia requires the destruction of America.

Rightly understood, Islam is a religion of violence and conquest that should have no place in America.  If George W. Bush somehow did not understand or did not want to deal with that fact in 2001, he ought to understand it now.  All Americans have to deal with it now, and it’s a much more difficult challenge because of W’s ‘false start’ in 2001.

So back to the essential takeaway from last week’s events.

America needs a rebirth of freedom, and an understanding of how freedom came to be—and how it must be preserved—in the United States of America.

President Abraham Lincoln notably called for such a rebirth, as he looked out on the ravages of the Gettysburg battlefield and delivered his famous address.  He was a deep-thinking, spiritually minded Christian who understood perhaps better than anyone that human slavery was an offense to God and to America as founded.  Though the Civil War had not yet extinguished this offense at the time he delivered the Gettysburg Address, he knew it could be successfully resolved—and America put back on track to reap the blessings of its God-given heritage—only as Americans came to know and experience a rebirth of freedom for all under the divine inspiration of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

The chains of physical slavery in the pre-Civil War era were easier to recognize and rebel against than more ethereal forms.  But all forms of slavery can be recognized and rejected when the precious privilege of American freedom—and where it comes from—is more deeply understood.  Because all forms of slavery represent witting or unwitting adherence or submission to lies—lies about God, about the nature of God’s creation, about the purpose and meaning of life well-lived.

The founding fathers drew their ideals in very substantial part from the Bible:  one Creator; all men and women created equal; a loving Creator endowing all individuals with inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Also from the Bible:  commandments not to steal or covet/envy (among others), and Beatitudes for moral living.

Socialism, Marxism and communism spring initially from godlessness:  no Creator; no God-given rights to humanity—only rights defined and ‘granted’ by government; and a zero-sum economic worldview where more for anyone always means less for others—which drives political debate into class warfare and other divisions, rather than ‘one nation under God’.

Islam/sharia denies the equal dignity and treatment of men and women.  Islam’s ‘Allah’ is not a loving creator, does not grant individual rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but demands submission of conscience and free will (and death for refusing submission and leaving Islam); and views men as animals driven by uncontrollable lust for sex and willing to embrace death if it comes through violence against infidels—because the reward is to abide in the heaven of 72 virgins.

The simple reality: America’s founding ideals stake out and protect God-given human freedom; they are, as Charlie Kirk would say, ‘good and true and beautiful’; they are unquestionably better than all isms; they are irreconcilable with the edicts of Islam/sharia; and they have produced a culture of human flourishing and civilizational stability far superior to anything else.

Socialism, Marxism, communism and Islam return humanity to living under lies—to living in slavery to belief systems of darkness, violence, immorality and limitation.

Midterm messaging by Republicans/MAGA patriots must sound the call for a rebirth of American freedom under America’s founding ideals that spring from the Bible.  The events of the past week should sharpen and amplify that call.  Loss of America’s birthright and heritage of individual freedom and responsibility under God should be unthinkable.
