Evan Sayet – Exposing Militant Atheism…with a Laugh

Evan Sayet grew up in New York; made his way to Hollywood primarily through his comedic/writing talents–including a stint as a writer for the Bill Maher Show–and cared little about politics or his Jewish background until he started to feel uncomfortable with the mean-spirited nature of anti-Christian humor and mockery.  Along about the same time, he observed that in Hollywood circles he never knew anyone who voted for Democrats; he only knew everyone voted against Republicans.   Hmmmmm

He has since applied his considerable insight, wit and rigorous analytical thinking to unmask and expose the thinking–or really, lack of thinking–associated with the left.  His first two books are quick-read, power-packed social commentaries:   “KinderGarden Of Eden: How the Modern Liberal Thinks” and “THE WOKE SUPREMACY: An Anti-Socialist Manifesto“.

But his latest book: “Magic Soup, Typing Monkeys, And Horny Aliens From Outer Space: The Patently Absurd Wholly Unsubstantiated and Extravagantly Failed Atheist Origin Myth is his deepest and most profound.  Because in this book, Sayet puts it all together, which is to say, he uncovers and explains how ‘militant atheism’ is the driving intellectual poison behind political leftism, a/k/a tyranny.

Turns out religion and politics aren’t really separate.  The love of God and the divine idea of creation (as embraced by America’s founders) leads to certain hopeful and positive political worldviews grounded ultimately in the rightness of the idea of spiritual freedom.  Conversely, anger at God and biblical religion leads to certain political and worldviews grounded in randomness, lack, limitation, cynicism, bitterness, oppression and victimization.

Sayet goes after the beliefs of atheism and exposes them–with rigor, precision and occasional zingers of wit–as frauds…as having absolutely nothing that backs up the core ‘principle’ of atheism, which is that something can spring from nothing.  Harris, Dawkins, Darwin–nobody of prominence in the militant atheist community is ignored; nobody escapes.

Sayet has made an important contribution.  America and the world are suffering from ‘hollowed out’ generations of young people who seem to have no sense of purpose or direction or joy about life and its possibilities.  That’s atheism at work.  But this doesn’t have to continue.  Atheism can seem so authoritative and ‘intelligent’ when voiced by people like WEF’s Yuval Harari, but at the end of the day, his schtick is simply 21st century idolatry–get God out of the way so man can reinvent and reengineer men and women in the image and likeness of man…in effect, making themselves into new gods.  It’s as old as the Bible, and as certain of catastrophic failure as every other version of idolatry.

But the Bible also reveals the alternative/antidote to atheism–‘the way, the truth and the life’.   Sayet’s book may spur readers to make (or remake) that discovery.
