A few evenings ago I spoke at an event in North Texas.

The event hosts gave me as a thank-you gift the extraordinary book “The American Gulag Chronicles: Letters from Prison,” which is a compilation of  letters written from the cells of Americans who are being held prisoner as a result of the events of January 6th, 2021. You can order a copy of that book HERE. Profits from the sale of this book go directly to supporting these Americans. Read and weep.

Some day in the not-so-distant future historians will look back at this January 6th episode and its aftermath and ask how in the world America got to this place, where our government is treating our fellow citizens like this.

— How did we get to this place where political protesters are being held indefinitely by federal and DC authorities, many for having committed no violence at all? This at a time when violent criminals around the country are frequently freed shortly after they are arrested.

—How could our criminal justice system so fail the American people that protesters are being held without due process, one of the most fundamental promises of our constitutional republic?

— How could America’s courts continue to tolerate the government’s actions —  failing to produce relevant and likely exculpatory evidence such as the full security tapes from the Capitol that day, and tolerating the abuse such as imposing solitary confinement, beating, berating, and denying vital medical care for these Americans?

— Why the silence from those in power? Save for a few brave members, Representatives Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Louie Gohmert, and perhaps a few others, the silence of the elected members of the United States Congress and Senate about this outrage happening right under their noses is deafening and deplorable. Where are the rest of the supposed leaders in Washington, who should be shouting from the rooftops that America is descending into a third world banana republic, with the new leftist government in DC weaponizing the DOJ and FBI and courts against their political enemies?

What should be obvious to everyone is that these J6 prisoners are incarcerated because of what they think.

The intentional and massive mental manipulation of the American people that contorted a protest into an  “insurrection”  took hold among the ignorant, and was used by those who concocted it to their political advantage. Setting aside the actions of a tiny segment of J6 prisoners whose actions that day do rise to the level of criminality,  the vast majority of J6 prisoners are being held because they believe that the 2020 election was stolen. Many J6 cases involve someone entering the Capitol peacefully and then leaving, actions that taken alone would never be prosecuted. The FBI and DOJ are attacking these Americans because they refuse to believe that this was the “safest and most secure election in American history.” Because they know better.

This conduct by our government is a threat to every American, and it is intended to be a threat. It is intended to silence future protests, and therefore to threaten Americans into submission to whatever the government does next. Especially this government, that openly tried to set up its own Orwellian Ministry of Truth, in the form of a Disinformation Governance Board, shut down in name only after widespread protest.

One bit of “new news” relates to all of this. In the landmark litigation Missouri v. Biden, Missouri and Louisiana sued the federal government, accusing them of pressuring and threatening big social media companies to censor Americans’ speech on a number of different topics.  Recent discovery in that case revealed that CISA, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, an agency under the Homeland Security Department, views your thoughts as “cognitive infrastructure” which they are authorized to regulate. Think on that.

Let me connect these dots. This venomous persecution of the J6 prisoners is being directed at them because of what they think. CISA, at the forefront of the government’s coordinated effort to censor Americans on the popular social media platforms and websites, views your thoughts as regulate-able cognitive infrastructure. The mindset of the U.S. government today, by their own admission, is that they are entitled to regulate your thoughts, as well as what you write online.

When I tell you on AmericaCanWeTalk that we are losing America, the unique and extraordinary and great country rooted in the promise of individual liberty as defined in our Declaration of Independence and fulfilled by the structure of government created in our Constitution, this, the January 6 episode and aftermath, is a great example of what I am saying. These wrongs must be righted. The people must speak up.
