17 Feb American Hero: Dennis Prager
We’ve mentioned Dennis Prager’s wisdom before, but his latest Townhall column—”Given How Flawed Human Nature Is, America Has Been a Remarkable Moral Achievement”—deserves the widest possible circulation. Prager has articulated the incomparable goodness of America relative to just about every other prior society in human history, and traces that goodness directly to a society historically inclined to follow, imperfectly but to the best of its ability, biblical teachings.
It’s fashionable in 2021 to mock and dismiss biblical teaching as outdated and superseded by various experts. But the larger reality is that it has always been fashionable in some circles to mock and dismiss biblical teachings as outdated and superseded by ‘authorities’ of any and every era.
The stability of American society has depended on those circles being small, and not comprised of any significant portion of the leadership of the country.
If American society is feeling unstable, Prager has made clear: it’s not a mystery as to why.
